Social Anxiety Group
Complete Wellness is now offering a group for those individuals that are struggling with Social Anxiety.
Social anxiety is the fear of interaction with other people that brings on self-consciousness, feelings of being negatively judged and evaluated, and, as a result, leads to avoidance of social situations. Social anxiety is the fear of being judged and evaluated negatively by other people, leading to feelings of inadequacy, inferiority, embarrassment, humiliation, and depression. If a person usually becomes (irrationally) anxious in social situations, but seems better when they are alone, then "social anxiety" may be the problem.
Though social avoidance reduces the fear of evaluation in social situations, people with social anxiety become isolated and lonely which then leads to depression.
If you have even a slight Social Anxiety problem, this group can help you develop social skills and self-soothing techniques so that you can successfully enjoy your social interactions.
The Social Anxiety Group will be facilitated by Durwood Whitten, PhD, a Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and an expert in the treatment of anxiety.
